United States

As of February 1, 2017, the United States no longer requires a visa for tourists who are citizens of 38 countries, including the UK. However, you will still need to obtain a tourist visa if you’re visiting for business or pleasure and your stay is less than six months. If you’re travelling to the US as part of a tour group, you should also check with your tour operator to make sure that they are meeting all the necessary requirements.

To get a US visa, British passport holders must first apply online at the US Department of State website. You will need to provide basic information such as your name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number. You will also need to upload copies of your passport pages and two photographs. Once you have completed the application process, you will be sent an acknowledgement letter which will inform you of your travel requirement (a Tourist Visa or Electronic System for Travel Authorization).

If you are travelling to the US for tourism purposes and do not hold a Business or Pleasure Visa (B-1 or B-2), then you can enter the country without obtaining a visa by following these steps:

• Entering through either Canada or Mexico at an official border crossing;
• Visiting an immigration office before departure from your home country;

Canada

If you’re a British passport holder who wants to travel without a visa, you’ll need to check the visa requirements of each destination. The UK has reciprocal agreements with most countries, so if your destination isn’t on the list, you may still be able to travel without a visa provided that you have a valid UK passport and an onward ticket. As of February 1st, 2018, the United States and Canada have reinstated their visa-free travel for citizens of Mexico. This means that passport holders from these countries no longer need a valid visa to enter either country for up to 90 days. If you are travelling for less than 90 days within 180 days of your original entry, you will still need a visa.

This change is great news for British passport holders travelling to Mexico as we now have one of the most comprehensive visa-free travel policies in the world. In addition to the US and Canada, countries that offer visa-free travel to Mexican citizens include Australia, Brunei, Chile, Oman, Peru and Vietnam. If you are travelling to any of these countries, be sure to check the individual country’s website for updated information on whether or not they maintain their visa-free policy with Mexico.

Europe

Europeans can travel to 173 countries without a visa, as long as they carry their passport and a valid travel document. This list changes frequently, so it is always best to check the latest regulations with your nearest British embassy or consulate. Some notable exceptions include Algeria, Bahrain, Tunisia, Morocco and Iran which all require a visa for European nationals.

South America

South America is a continent rich in culture and history. The region is home to some of the world’s most renowned tourist destinations, such as Machu Picchu, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. Additionally, passport holders can travel without visa to other countries within South America.

Visa-free travel is possible to all countries within South America except for Argentina, Chile and Peru. All of these countries issue visas on arrival at their ports of entry. For those travelling to Argentina, Chile or Peru, it is recommended that passports have a valid multiple-entry visa if required. Travellers should also confirm the requirements for each country before travelling as some do not require visas for certain nationalities or periods of stay.

To explore this vast continent without breaking the bank, travellers can head to popular tourist destinations like Machu Picchu and Rio de Janeiro. Asia

As of September 1, 2016, passport holders of the United Kingdom no longer need a visa to visit 173 countries and territories around the world. This includes all of the E.U. member states as well as many other countries that are not E.U. members but have bilateral agreements with the UK.

The justification for this change is that the UK has abolished its own visa requirements, meaning that travelers from visa-exporting countries now only need a valid passport to visit the UK. This change applies only to British passport holders traveling outside of the European Union and does not apply to U.K. citizens traveling within the EU or to nationals of any other country who hold a valid British passport (including Commonwealth citizens).

For those British citizens who still wish to travel without a visa, there are several steps they can take: First, they should make sure their passport is valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay abroad; second, they should carry a Proof of Residence document such as an original utility bill or bank statement dated within three months of intended departure; and finally, they should carry proof of onward travel such as an air ticket or hotel reservation.

British passport holders can travel to most countries without a visa, provided they are in possession of a valid British passport and have sufficient funds to cover their stay.
